At Molino San Juan Hacienda, sustainability is not an add-on but the guiding principle behind every decision. Inspired by international standards and backed by the regulations of Germany’s Import Promotion Desk (IPD), we operate under a model that integrates four dimensions:

• 21% reduction in water consumption over three years through efficient use in agricultural and tourism processes.
• Compost and organic fertilizer production by controlled decomposition of 42% of food waste in the last three years.
• Maintenance of an organic garden for self-consumption and tourist experiences.

b. Positive Social Impact

• Creation of dignified employment for more than 46 families in Cayambe, with continuous training programs in hospitality and cultural tourism.
• 96% of supplies sourced from local providers, strengthening the regional economy.
• Over 1,200 university and school students have participated in sustainable workshops since 2020.

c. Cultural and Heritage Preservation

• Annual investment of $25,000 in heritage conservation, restoring the Jesuit chapel and historic spaces.
• More than 10,000 visitors each year enjoy experiences that preserve Ecuadorian traditions.
• International recognition with 25 awards and certifications, including two Sustainable Tourism certifications and the nutritional responsibility seal from Ecuador’s Ministry of Health.

d. Bio-Sustainable Innovation

Rehabilitation of the stable using straw bale construction, achieving:

• 59% less use of industrial materials and reduced pollutant emissions.
• 33% savings in labor and 45% in materials.
• Rooms with +4 °C interior temperature, reducing the need for climate control.
• Earthquake-resistant and soundproof construction, offering safety and peace of mind.
